As Mother’s Day approaches, I find myself thinking less about what people buy and more about why they buy it.

Women’s History Month has been especially meaningful to me this year. I’ve loved researching, writing, and sharing the stories, inspirations, and creative connections that make this month so powerful- from the women artists who influenced my work to the associated colors we carry with us in our jewelry.

In researching this uplifting month, I discovered that Women’s History Month is symbolized by three colors: purple, green, and white. Much like gemstones have spiritual traditions attached to them, each of these colors carries a special meaning, all rooted in the women’s suffrage movement.

My journey as a jewelry artist is a tapestry woven from family inspiration, academic pursuit, and the enduring influence of women whose artistry changed the way I see adornment. As I reflect on my own history, I feel compelled to honor three extraordinary female designers whose work has shaped my creative vision: Isabel Canovas, Angela Cummings, and Elsa Peretti.
